For those of you that have not known me long or are new to my journey, I thought I would share a little bit about myself and how I got to where I am today.
Over the years, I always said I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up. Such a common thing for kids to say or even young adults, but this carried over into my adult life.
I had some really wonderful jobs over the years, but nothing that felt like a career or “what I wanted to be when I grew up.” I had worked with special needs children at Solheim Elementary for many years, and also traveled and worked with my husband in his food brokerage company called Tucker Sales. These jobs were tough but rewarding at the same time, although they were not something I thought I would see myself doing as a career long term.
My husband retired a few years ago, which meant I could retire from the company as well. Around that time, I started writing. I’ve always had a creative side to me, and have always enjoyed decorating, baking, scrapbooking, and doing other creative projects, especially with my grandkids. Maybe their presence in my life has been an influence on my writing career, but I do give my work & inspiration to God. He has spoken to me, and has helped prompt my writings. He gives me the daily encouragement I need to keep moving forward with this writing process and journey.
As many of you know or could imagine, it has not been easy to publish a book, especially during COVID-19 times. There have been times of straight frustration, tears, and wanting to throw in the towel, but here we are. The hard work has been so worth it, because I am able to share “Z the Zebra” with so many of you and your children! This makes my heart happy and my mind humbled to hear of my audiences positive feedback and encouragement. It brings happy tears to my eyes when I hear you or your kids’ testimonials that reflect on my writings. I also love to see pictures or videos of your kids reading “Z the Zebra.” That is what this journey is all about!
As I continue to work on marketing “Z the Zebra”, and creating more stories behind the scenes, I am finally able to say this writing journey is the career I’ve always wanted. I prayed for purpose, a career, and for fulfillment, which was not something I was able to find on my own. I give God all the glory.
